The constant use of digital devices like phones and laptops has caused excessive exposure to blue light. The blue light emitted by devices affects the health of the eyes and can cause symptoms such as eye strain, fatigue, and overall discomfort. With the growing awareness of the effects of blue light, new technology has been created, such as blue light filtering glasses. With new technology being created, more studies are being done on the effectiveness of blue light glasses and if they can relieve eye strain symptoms. While there are currently multiple studies on the effectiveness of blue light glasses, there is very little research done on the undergraduate population. This is important since university students are using computers, laptops, and phones for several hours every day, and experiencing digital eye strain symptoms daily. The goal of this research is to determine if blue light glasses can relieve digital eye strain symptoms among university students. The requirements for participants of the study include current undergraduate students who wear contacts or do not wear glasses. Participants will fill out a survey about their eye symptoms before and after using blue light glasses, and statistical analysis will be applied to the data. Each participant will wear either blue light filtering lenses or placebo clear lenses for a week, while using digital devices. The hypothesis of this study is that blue light glasses will relieve digital eye strain symptoms.
