School for International Training offers accredited, experiential programs—including undergraduate study abroad programs on all seven continents through SIT Study Abroad and global and hybrid graduate degrees and certificates through SIT Graduate Institute—that address today’s most critical issues.
SIT Study Abroad offers accredited field-based undergraduate semester and summer programs in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as comparative programs in multiple locations. Our programs’ unique qualities—including exceptional locations, independent research, cultural immersion, and deep local networks—make our programs an ideal choice for an extraordinary, transformative study abroad experience. Employing an educational approach developed over 80 years, SIT encourages students to step beyond the boundaries of a traditional classroom to analyze the critical issues shaping local communities around the globe
SIT Graduate Institute prepares students from across the globe to be effective leaders, professionals, and citizens. SIT’s master’s and professional development programs are rooted in the experiential education model, where learning occurs at the nexus of theory and practice. Students are trained to become highly skilled practitioners who have a commanding knowledge of the theoretical basis of their profession; experience in the field; and an awareness of their own capabilities, values, and ethics. On SIT’s full-time, global master’s programs, you’ll study a critical global issue in up to four countries. You’ll witness firsthand the challenges, successes, and vastly differing perspectives of communities on the front lines of climate change, migration, development, diplomacy, education, or global health. During your final practicum semester, you’ll work directly with an organization responding to these challenges. SIT’s part-time, hybrid master’s degree programs are designed for working professionals who want to earn an MA while staying in their jobs and communities. Each program includes at least one brief but important residency on SIT’s breathtaking Vermont campus, where you’ll build important bonds with your cohort. Some degrees also include residencies abroad during the second program year to gain a more global experience.
