The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship educational and cultural exchange program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The Program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of and partner nations, advance knowledge across communities, and improve lives around the world. The Fulbright Program provides participants – chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential – with the opportunity to study, teach, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions for shared international concerns.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers grants for one academic year to U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, early-career professionals, and artists. Participants pursue graduate or professional study, advanced research, or English teaching in elementary and secondary schools or colleges and universities. Each year, over 2,100 Americans receive grants from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to travel to more than 140 countries.
