The story of One Piece, Created by Eiichero Oda, is a story that is acclaimed by many as one of the greatest manga works of all time. This statement is said because of its characters, Worldbuilding, and story. One question that comes to mind is, Why?
One piece talks about ideas about political corruption, generation trauma, and the idea of human dreams. These ideas all blend into the ideas of the human condition. Oda weaves these ideas throughout the story to tell a grand narrative about piracy and freedom and how Oda uses human history and mythology to tell his story through a fantasy lens. How does the story illustrate these ideas through its characters and story? With not only its setting but with how the fictional world operates. From the main characters to the many story arcs our characters find themselves in. We will talk about some characters' backstories and how they illustrate this idea, and we will go into how Oda builds the world of one piece—talking about the story overall, from the most recent chapters to the story's start!
This abstract presentation will discuss these things, using the evidence throughout the story to illustrate them and show why one piece is a transcendent work of art. And how Eiichero Oda uses all these ideas to talk about political corruption through systemic oppression, racism, and segregation with generation trauma to show how dreams are formed. How Oda creates a high fantasy setting and uses it to talk about the politics of history and both worlds at large.
