Herbert Bayer is an icon in design, who is known for his contributions to typography, graphic design, and exhibition design. He employed a unique method of blending simplicity and clarity to enhance design. This approach was evident in his typography. His approach deeply influenced American design. Despite his achievements, Bayer’s legacy is convoluted by personal and moral controversies. In his early career, he accepted commissions from Nazi Germany. In addition to that controversy, he was a serial womanizer. While his design achievements are distinguished, some of his past decisions deter some of Bayer’s legacy.
