Telugu is a Dravidian language of approximately 80 million native speakers and is spoken primarily in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in Southern India. When I first started learning the language in my Freshman year, I encountered many barriers that slowed down my progress, including lack of language learning resources and support from native speakers. That is why, in the fall of 2022, I created the "Teach Me Telugu" project, with a vision that accessing the Telugu language could become as easy as a mouse click. Over the years, the "Teach Me Telugu" project has gained traction and covered several milestones, including the creation of a short film, podcast, and website. By the time I graduate college, I hope to conclude the project by creating a free, high-quality Telugu alphabet course designed for an international audience, and redigitizing an old course called "An Intensive Course in Telugu" by uploading all 64 lessons (specifically, the dialogues and vocabularies) on Youtube as beginner-friendly podcasts with accompanying Telugu and English subtitles. My hope is that these resources will serve as a stepping stone for anyone eager to learn Telugu, no matter where they are in the world.
