One major issue Mexico has continued to combat is the ongoing cases of both femicide and transfemicide. Within the last few years, there is still an uprising in cases where both women and transwomen are intentionally being killed by their perpetrators. As a result, this has brought major concerns among citizens and experts regarding the government’s attempts to resolve and provide solutions to reduce the violence against women and transwomen. This study will examine the history of both femicide and transfemicide by analyzing different elements that contribute to this issue. To further examine this issue one method that will be applied for this study would be secondary data analysis including statistical data, academic journals, books, and websites to obtain more information on the number of deaths of these victims as well as finding other elements that potentially contribute to this ongoing violence against women and trans women. Once gathering this information, the goal is to raise awareness about this issue so other individuals can be informed not only about their rights but the potential resources available to them. Most importantly providing this information could help individuals in detaching themselves from any teachings and behaviors that contribute to both patriarchy and machismo.
