This study investigates the relationship between personality traits and movie genre preferences, exploring if Big Five traits and movie genre preferences are correlated. The BF-10 and a movie genre preference survey were combined and sent out to gather data from participants. Three significant results were found. Openness was positively correlated with science fiction movies and fantasy movies, and neuroticism was negatively correlated with sports movies. No other relationships were found between the other Big Five traits. These results support the literature, finding connections between personality traits and movie genre preferences. While this study did not find a connection between all five traits, it supports the correlation between personality and entertainment preferences. This relationship impacts the way we understand films, as our personality is shown to impact what we enjoy or dislike within the entertainment industry.
