Evaluating Examination Forms in a Basic Applied Statistics Course using Classical Test Theory
In developing and administering tests that range from college entrance examinations to classroom tests, Classical Test Theory (CTT) can be used to compare different exam forms by evaluating the item discrimination of the exam’s questions. Ensuring the equivalence of exam forms is important for treating all examinees fairly. This study compared different test forms for a Basic Applied Statistics course at a four-year university. The classical item difficulty, discrimination statistics, and other test statistics were examined for each form. Revisions were proposed for poorly functioning items. By using these methods, future exams can be revised to create and evaluate parallel test forms.
