Bionade is a food packaging system that aims to eliminate plastic waste completely from protein packaging. Unlike regular protein packaging, Bionade dissolves when exposed to oil to offer a solution to help eliminate plastic. Bionade can also provide a variety of seasoning options allowing local protein to be experienced through a variety of cultural lenses. This not only improves the streamlining of the cooking process, but also minimizes the need for additional packaging used in spices as well as the protein itself. With the usage of plastic contributing to a large portion of the waste found in our outdoor environments hitting an all time high of 57 million tons of plastic per year (PBS, 2024), 40% being plastic from food protection (New York Times, 2024), Bionade provides a sustainable option to explore different cultures’ food.
